Batman Set to Become Greatest Movie Ever

Posted by thelanetrain on August 11, 2008

There must be a lot of people who love Batman.  Or Heath Ledger.  Or superhero movies.  Or all three of those things combined.  Or perhaps a lot of people thought nothing else was good at the theatres so they just decided to see The Dark Knight over and over again.  Whatever the case, The Dark Knight is shaping up to be one of the biggest, most successful films of all time.  Not even a bunch of dumbfuck stoners could stop the Batman from continuing its recordbreaking pace.  For the fourth week in a row, The Dark Knight finished #1 at the box office, raking in a mere $26 million this past weekend, but moving its total gross to $441.5 million, surpassing box office hits like Shrek 2, Star Wars Episode I, and even E.T. The Dark Knight is now the third highest grossing film of all time, surpassed only by Star Wars and Titanic.

On another note, Pineapple Express, which many critics thought would be able to take down The Dark Knight finished respectably at the #2 spot.  And that girlie movie about pants with Ugly Betty and Serena?  A pitiful fourth place.
