A Busy, Busy Day for Disney

Posted by thelanetrain on June 23, 2008

The Walt Disney Company is having quite a day today, and not necessarily in a good or bad way.  To start, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Disney is in talks with Veoh Networks to allow for the streaming video service to air ABC and ESPN programming via its website.  So now, you can watch all your favorite episodes of Desperate Housewives and get the latest MLB scores without having to buy overpriced iTunes episodes or check scores through Yahoo! Sports.  Awesome!

Furthermore, Disney also sold its online movie tickets site, movies.com, to Comcast.  According to eFluxMedia, Comcast, which owns Fandango, finally acquired the Disney-owned site after a number of unsuccessful offers to buy the service.  In addition, Comcast hopes to increase visitors on both websites, and to increase its overall revenue via online advertising and ticket processing fees.

Honestly, we don’t care what happens to our movie ticketing sites that still shock us when prime tickets cost ten dollars, but please, for the love of god, do not give the paper bag mascots any of those insanely annoying Mickey Mouse ears.
